Resilient City: Retrospective and Projection of an (In)Vulnerable City
Mexico City is well known for its multiple territorial and social complexities, however, three major challenges stand out: water scarcity and flooding, seismic activity, and social inequality between population sectors located in different areas of the territory.
Resilient City, retrospective and projection of an (in)vulnerable city is a study that allows, on the one hand, to inform the population about the risks, vulnerabilities, and historical construction of resilience in Mexico City; on the other hand, it allows the reflection and projection of a possible legacy on the design of tools and public policies to help mitigate the conditions of vulnerability in the city. The publication presents a historical and geographical analysis of the city, territorial visualizations, and maps, as well as the recounting of important events regarding the risks, impacts, and vulnerabilities that both government and civil society have faced. In this sense, the understanding and comprehension of the territory as an essential element for the future development of the city is presented.
